This has been largely a sedate time abroad. Most of those in this hotel are (even) older than me and there are quite a number approaching the age of the folks. Along with a sprinkling of families with young children. Nevertheless all have been remarkably well behaved (yes – even the wrinklies).
Today, it appears, the tide is turning. Firstly a team of late teenage Spanish (or something) football players has arrived. Not that that, in itself, poses any difficulties. This is a big hotel and should be able to accommodate all comers safely and easily. Except that theý´ve put this crew along our corridor: indeed, utterly surrounding us.
Up and down the corridor, both sides. They´ve been hanging out their balconies, shouting along to one another. Running down the hallway wrapped (presumably only) in their towels. Banging on each others doors, then running away.
All funny little japes. If you´re sixteen and amongst the crowd. Anyway – that was how our early evening went. But – OMG – what does the night time hold???
And then – the Brit women arrived!!! Well – they look like they have every intention of showing those Spanish teenagers a thing or two about rocking this fuddy duddy ol´place!!! Tonight´s dancefloor has been transformed. No more of that waltz/cha-cha/jive thing. No – that´s all so passe. Free dance for ever, now the Brits are here to take over the world!!!
(Did I add they´ve actually had a drink or two?? – Which is more than dancers on every other night). Here´s us just drinking quietly on our own, in a corner, and there´s a bunch of wild, wild women now arrived to make the place their own!! Happy days!! Why did we leave it to them to shake the place up???
Oh – and have I even said that the paid entertainers this evening were actually extremely good? The Brit women missed them, but they added their own brand of entertainment to the night´s events.
